Learning the Welsh Plural displayed below is vital to the language. Welsh Plurals are grammatical numbers, typically referring to more than one of the referent in the real world. In the English language, singular and plural are the only grammatical numbers.
While in English, the plural is formed by adding (s) to the singular. In Welsh, to form the plural of nouns and adjectives a suffix is added: Here are some examples:
Ffrind (a friend) becomes: Ffrindiau (some friends)
Menyw (one woman) becomes: Menywod (some women)
Dyma fy nghar coch (this is my red car) becomes: Dyma fy ngheir coch (these are my red cars)
· There are many ways to form the plural in Welsh – various terminations can be added and sometimes the singular form undergoes an internal change.
· Please note that there is no indefinite article in Welsh – just leave it out.
