Thai Negation

Learning the Thai Negation is very important because its structure is used in every day conversation. The more you master it the more you get closer to mastering the Thai language. But first we need to know what the role of Negation is in the structure of the grammar in Thai.

Thai negation is the process that turns an affirmative statement (I am happy) into its opposite denial (I am not happy). Here are some examples:

Negation	การปฏิเสธ - gaan bpà-dtì-sàyt
he is not here	เขา ไม่อยู่ ที่นี่ - kăo mâi yòo têe nêe
that is not my book	นั่น ไม่ใช่ หนังสือ ของ ฉัน - nân mâi châi năng-sĕu kŏng chăn
do not enter	ห้ามเข้า - hâam kâo
