Learning the Polish Feminine is very important because its structure is used in every day conversation. The more you master it the more you get closer to mastering the Polish language. But first we need to know what the role of Feminine is in the structure of the grammar in Polish.
Polish feminine refers to female qualities attributed specifically to women and girls or things considered feminine. The complement to feminine is masculine.
Forming a feminine form in Polish is rather irregular. Some of the feminine forms are made by adding -ka to the masculine form. Example:
Sprzatacz (a cleaner) becomes: sprzątaczka (cleaning lady).
However, this rule is quite uncertain, because there are many cases where the form with -ka doesn’t mean the feminine form of the masculine, but an another word. Example: pilotka is not a women who steers a plane, but a flying cap.
Many of Polish feminine form are totally different than the masculine, because they are formed with another steam. Example: chłopiec (a boy) – dziewczynka (a girl).
