Icelandic Adverbs

Learning the Icelandic Adverbs displayed below is vital to the language. Icelandic adverbs are part of speech. Generally they're words that modify any part of language other than a noun. Adverbs can modify verbs, adjectives (including numbers), clauses, sentences and other adverbs.

Grammar Tips:

In English adverbs are usually formed by adding (-ly) to adjectives. The corresponding ending in Icelandic is -lega. E.g. hljóðlega (quietly) reglulega (regularly).

Adverbs may also be formed from neuter adjectives, like hratt (quickly), langt (far).

Adverbs, like adjectives, compare: vel - betur - best (well - better - best).
