Greek Adverbs

Learning the Greek Adverbs displayed below is vital to the language. Greek adverbs are part of speech. Generally they're words that modify any part of language other than a noun. Adverbs can modify verbs, adjectives (including numbers), clauses, sentences and other adverbs.

Grammar Tips:

While in English adverbs are usually formed by adding (-ly) to adjectives, in Greek many adverbs are formed from adjectives, simply by changing the suffix -ος of the singular masculine form of adjectives to -α. Examples:

αργός (slow) becomes αργά (slowly)

τέλειος (perfect) becomes τέλεια (perfectly)

Other adverbs maintain the Ancient Greek suffix –ως, for example: ακριβώς (exactly) εντελώς (totally).
