Czech Feminine

Learning the Czech Feminine displayed below is vital to the language. Czech feminine refers to female qualities attributed specifically to women and girls or things considered feminine. The complement to feminine is masculine.

Grammar Tips:

All nouns, adjectives and pronouns have their own grammatical gender (masculine, feminine and neutral). There are 4-6 affix subgroups in each gender, which affect casing and number. However,   a feminine word can be formed from  a  masculine in Czech, especially for roles and professions, simply by adding  (-ka) or changing the masculine affix –k into -ce . Example:

učitel/učitelka (teacher), herec/herečka (actor/actress), zdravotník/zdravotnice (nurse)
