Learning the Bengali Pronouns is very important because its structure is used in every day conversation. The more you master it the more you get closer to mastering the Bengali language. But first we need to know what the role of Pronouns is in the structure of the grammar in Bengali.
Bengali pronouns include personal pronouns (refer to the persons speaking, the persons spoken to, or the persons or things spoken about), indefinite pronouns, relative pronouns (connect parts of sentences) and reciprocal or reflexive pronouns (in which the object of a verb is being acted on by verb's subject).
In English personal pronouns are (I, you, he, she, it, we, you, they), and (me, you, him, her, it, us, you, them), In Bengali, the personal pronouns are not gender sensitive, those are:
Ami (I), túmi/tui/apni… (you), se,tini… (he/she),
amra (we), tara, tnara… (they),
Examples: Ami shikhi (I learn), tumi shekho (you learn), apni shekhen (you learn [respected person]), se sekhe(he or she learns), tini shekhen (he or she learns [respected person]), amra shikhi (we learn), tomra shekho (you learn [plural, friendly]), tara shekhe (they learn),), tumi shekho (you learn [plural, polite]).
Indirect Object Pronouns:
Indirect object pronouns are words that replace the indirect object, which is usually a person.
amake(me), tomake, apnake (you), take, tnake (him, her), amaderke (us), taderke (them):
Examples: Amake boita dao (give me the book). Ami tomake bhalobasi (I love you).
