Learning the Bengali Numbers is very important because its structure is used in every day conversation. The more you master it the more you get closer to mastering the Bengali language. But first we need to know what the role of Numbers is in the structure of the grammar in Bengali.
Bengali cardinal number convey the "how many" they're also known as "counting numbers," because they show quantity. Here are some examples:

In Bengali numbers from 1 to 21 are unique and therefore need to be memorized individually. Numbers from 21 and upwards are formed by using the following pattern: All numbers in the range of 20 are suffixed by ish or ush such as 1+20 = ek+ush=ekush. 2+20= ba+ish= baish, 3+20= te+ish teish, similarly numbers in the range of forty are suffixed by llish (44= 4+40=chua+llish=chuallish. Similarly 50’s are suffixed by ‘panno (3+50 = te+ panno = teppanno), 60’s by shatti, 70’ by attor, 80’s by ashi, 90’s by nobbai.
Bengali Ordinal numbers tell the order of things in a set: first, second, third, etc. Ordinal numbers do not show quantity. They only show rank or position.
