Learning the Azerbaijani Adjectives is very important because its structure is used in every day conversation. The more you master it the more you get closer to mastering the Azerbaijani language. But first we need to know what the role of Adjectives is in the structure of the grammar in Azerbaijani.
Azerbaijani Adjectives are words that describe or modify another person or thing in the sentence.
While in English an adjective doesn’t change when the noun changes, it is same in Azeri as well. For example:
a) There is no Masculine or feminine in Azeri language:
Bu mənim balaca oğlumdur (this is my little son) becomes: bu mənim balaca qızımdır (this is my little daughter)
As you can see from the example above, the adjective comes before the noun and does not change in any form.
b) Singular to plural example:
Bu mənim ağ pişiyimdir (this is my white cat) becomes: Bunlar mənim ağ pişiklərimdir (these are my white cats).
As you can see from the example above, the adjective comes before the noun and does not take plural form.
