Albanian Feminine

Learning the Albanian Feminine displayed below is vital to the language. Albanian feminine refers to female qualities attributed specifically to women and girls or things considered feminine. The complement to feminine is masculine.

Grammar Tips:

To form a feminine(femërore) word from the masculine in Albanian, you simply add (e) if the word ends in a consonant. But if a word ends in a vowel then you need to remove the vowel before adding the “e”. Here are some examples:

djalë (son) becomes vajzë (daughter), nxënës/student (student masc.) becomes nxënës-e/ student-e (student fem.)

Note:

But this is not for all nouns:

Example: masculine:  profesor (professor), feminine: profesor-eshë, luan- luan-eshë (lion - lioness)

Note that some words cannot change into feminine; instead a whole new word should be used, example: burrë (man), grua (woman).

Yes, it is very true that also in Albanian there are many words that cannot be changed into feminine!
